Taawon (Welfare Association) is a non-profit, civic organization launched in Geneva in the year 1983, upon the initiative of a group of Palestinian business leaders and intellectuals. Taawon has become one of the largest organizations operating in Palestine and the diaspora camps in Lebanon, whereby it touches the lives of more than one million Palestinians on an annual basis, with half of these beneficiaries being women.

Taawon STEM Program Brings Finnish Expertise to Palestinian Schools

The implementation of the Taawon STEM Enabled School Program is now in full swing, bringing a fresh boost to STEM education across 18 primary schools in Palestine. Launched in February 2025, the program is the result of a partnership between Taawon, the Omnia Education Partnerships (OEP) in Finland, and the Palestinian Ministry of Education, with the support of the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development.

As part of the “QUDSI – Revive for Resilience” project, funded by the European Union and supervised by UN-Habitat, the Old Cities of Jerusalem Revitalization Program (OCJRP) at Taawon concluded a specialized remote training titled:
 “Reinforcement & Strengthening of Historical Buildings in Case of Emergency – First Aid.”

Memorandum of Understanding Between the Jordanian Royal Medical Services and Taawon to Implement Mobile Healthcare Solutions in Gaza

In a significant step to enhance healthcare in the Gaza Strip, the Jordanian Royal Medical Services and Taawon signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Thursday, April 10, outlining the implementation of mobile healthcare solutions as part of the Mobile Health Clinics Initiative – Gaza (MHC).
The agreement was signed by Major General Dr. Yousef Zreikat, Director General of the Jordanian Royal Medical Services, and Dr. Tareq Emtairah, Director General of Taawon.

A Strategic Partnership for Sustainable Education

The Ministry of Education and Higher Education, represented by Minister Dr. Amjad Barham, has signed a strategic partnership agreement with Taawon, represented by Ahmed ElFarra on behalf of Director General Dr. Tareq Emtairah and the Palestinian Academy for Science and Technology, represented by its President Dr. Marwan Awartani, . The partnership aims to enhance and advance STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) education, supporting sustainable development in Palestine's education sector.
