Taawon (Welfare Association) is a non-profit, civic organization launched in Geneva in the year 1983, upon the initiative of a group of Palestinian business leaders and intellectuals. Taawon has become one of the largest organizations operating in Palestine and the diaspora camps in Lebanon, whereby it touches the lives of more than one million Palestinians on an annual basis, with half of these beneficiaries being women.

The official opening of Dr. Azzam Sadiq Kanaan School in the Old City of Nablus

On September 26, 2024, the Dr. Azzam Sadiq Kanaan School was officially opened in the Old City of Nablus, on the land of Sabana Canaan. The school was built thanks to the generous donation from the late Dr. Azzam Kanaan and his wife, Mrs. Shadia Misbah Kanaan. The opening ceremony was attended by Mrs. Shadia Kanaan, the Governor of Nablus, the Minister of Local Government, the Mayor of Nablus, the Director General of the Ministry of Education, as well as representatives from Taawon, several organizations, and members of the Kanaan family.

Program Analyst – Assistant Program Manager

This role involves supporting the organization’s initiatives in education, health, youth empowerment, and economic development through rigorous analysis, reporting, and monitoring of ongoing projects and programs.

Signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between Taawon and Several Gaza Universities to Provide Scholarships for Students

Under the patronage and participation of Minister of Education and Higher Education, Dr. Amjad Barham, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed yesterday at the Ministry of Education headquarters between Taawon and several universities in Gaza (Al-Azhar University, Islamic University, and Al-Aqsa University) to launch the " ISNAD” Program for Student Support and University Education in Gaza."

$100,000 Annually- Munib & Angela Masri Foundation Supports Gaza Orphans through the Noor Program

Taawon and the Munib & Angel Masri Foundation signed an agreement to provide an annual grant to support Taawon’s Noor Program- Gaza Orphans Care Program. The agreement was signed at Taawon’s headquarters in Amman, by Dr. Tareq Emtairah, Director General of Taawon and by Mr. Munib R. Masri, Founder of the Munib & Angela Masri Foundation and co-founder and Honorary President of Taawon, and Dr. Tareq Emtairah, Director General of Taawon. In attendance at the signing were members of Mr. Masri’s family, members of Taawon’s Board of Trustees, as well as management.

Taawon and GOAL Global Strengthen Partnership to Support Essential Healthcare in Gaza

In the face of the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza, Taawon is proud to announce the continuation of its partnership with GOAL Global, building on the collaboration that began in December 2023. During the initial phase, GOAL Global supported the Gaza Emergency Project with €168,000, which contributed to the provision of over 5,000 fresh produce parcels to displaced families. As the humanitarian situation continues to deteriorate, this renewed partnership aims to expand these efforts and address the urgent healthcare needs of those most affected.

 

Project Coordinator - QUDSI Project

As part of the Quality Urban Development for Sustainable Interventions – Rehabilitation for Revitalization (QUDSI-R4R) Project, funded by the European Union and managed by the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat), and partially implemented by the Old City of Jerusalem Revitalization Program (OCJRP), Taawon is seeking to contract a consultant for the role of QUDSI Project Coordinator.

 

Launch of the Project to Enhance Resilience of Rural Families in the West Bank.

In a new step to enhance the resilience of rural Palestinian families, Taawon and the Agricultural Development Association (PARC) have launched the project, "Enhancing the Resilience of Palestinian Families Living in Rural Communities in the West Bank through Livelihood and Protection Interventions," funded by Danish Muslim Aid. This project is part of Taawon’s ongoing efforts to support sustainable development in Palestine, especially in rural areas facing economic and social challenges.

The third steering committee meeting for the "Water, Land, and Agricultural Roads Investment program” took place on September 24, 2024, at the headquarters of Taawon (Welfare Association) in Ramallah, marking the beginning of the program's third year.
