Taawon (Welfare Association) is a non-profit, civic organization launched in Geneva in the year 1983, upon the initiative of a group of Palestinian business leaders and intellectuals. Taawon has become one of the largest organizations operating in Palestine and the diaspora camps in Lebanon, whereby it touches the lives of more than one million Palestinians on an annual basis, with half of these beneficiaries being women.

Our Roots… Preserving History, Reviving Heritage
Taawon, through its Jerusalem Old Cities Revitalization Program, recently concluded the awareness activities of the "Juthoorna" campaign in both the Old City of Jenin and Tell Balata in Nablus, which took place in October and November 2024.

At the onset of the war on Gaza in 2023, Taawon, in partnership with Bank of Palestine Group, launched the third phase of its orphan care program, "Noor." The program aims to provide comprehensive support to 20,000 children who lost one or both parents due to the war on Gaza in 2023-2024.

The official opening of Dr. Azzam Sadiq Kanaan School in the Old City of Nablus

On September 26, 2024, the Dr. Azzam Sadiq Kanaan School was officially opened in the Old City of Nablus, on the land of Sabana Canaan. The school was built thanks to the generous donation from the late Dr. Azzam Kanaan and his wife, Mrs. Shadia Misbah Kanaan. The opening ceremony was attended by Mrs. Shadia Kanaan, the Governor of Nablus, the Minister of Local Government, the Mayor of Nablus, the Director General of the Ministry of Education, as well as representatives from Taawon, several organizations, and members of the Kanaan family.
