Abdulla Al Ghurair Foundation Supports University Students in Gaza through Taawon's ISNAD Initiative
The Abdulla Al Ghurair Foundation (AGF), through its Education Relief Fund (ERF), is partnering with Taawon to enable university students in Gaza to continue their education and supports universities in fulfilling their mission under the most challenging conditions. This support is being delivered as part of Taawon’s flagship higher education and relief initiative, ISNAD. In parallel, AGF’s Education Relief Fund is contributing to emergency water distribution in response to the acute humanitarian crisis.
AGF’s Education Relief Fund will provide up to 2,000 grants for students enrolled at Al-Azhar and Al-Aqsa Universities in Gaza. This assistance enables students to pursue their education remotely and helps ensure the continuity of higher education inside Gaza, despite the extensive destruction of academic infrastructure.
“Education is a fundamental human right and one of the strongest foundations for stability and opportunity,” said His Excellency Abdul Aziz Al Ghurair, Chairman of the Board of Trustees at the Abdulla Al Ghurair Foundation. “Through our Education Relief Fund, we are working with Taawon and other partners to help ensure that Arab students in Gaza and beyond can continue their studies amid hardship. This effort reflects the UAE’s enduring commitment to education and humanitarian support across the region, and affirms our belief that investing in young people is investing in resilience, dignity and the future of all communities.”
Dr. Tareq Emtairah, Director General of Taawon, expressed his appreciation for the partnership, stating: “This vital support strengthens ISNAD’s impact at a time of immense need. It allows hundreds of students to continue their education and helps universities uphold their mission under the most challenging conditions. This is part of a larger effort to ensure youth can thrive, communities can lead, and opportunities multiply. We are proud to walk this path with the Abdulla Al Ghurair Foundation from the UAE.”
Launched by Taawon in collaboration with higher education institutions in Gaza, ISNAD provides grants for students affected by the war while reinforcing the role of Palestinian universities as essential pillars of development and resilience.
In recognition of the severe humanitarian emergency, the Abdulla Al Ghurair Foundation has exceptionally extended its Education Relief Fund to emergency water distribution. Through the Gaza Emergency Relief initiative, water trucks are operating daily to deliver clean drinking water to an estimated 225,000 people. This time-bound intervention addresses one of the most urgent needs, as more than half of Gaza’s water infrastructure has been damaged and over two million Palestinians lost access to safe water.
