As Gaza’s health system faces overwhelming pressure, Taawon has launched an Emergency Cash-for-Work Response in partnership with the Gaza Culture and Development Group, with support from Danish Muslim Aid. The initiative supports 91 young healthcare professionals who are now serving at Al-Ahli Arab Hospital and Hamad Hospital, following a careful selection process and professional orientation.
This initiative is about more than employment or financial assistance. It is a commitment to protect those who stand on the frontlines of care. By helping stabilize the livelihoods of healthcare workers, providing protective supplies, and offering psychosocial and professional support, the project enables them to continue their work with strength and dignity, remaining present for patients during moments of fear, pain, and uncertainty.
Through a set of integrated interventions, the project helps healthcare workers withstand the intense pressures of high-risk and high-stress environments. This support directly strengthens the continuity and quality of health services, ensuring that patients can access the care they need, when they need it most.
The supported team includes 55 recent graduates specializing in nursing, laboratory services, rehabilitation, and mental health, alongside 36 essential support staff. Together, they form a critical pillar of Gaza’s healthcare response, sustaining medical services and meeting urgent patient needs amid the profound humanitarian challenges confronting the health sector.
