Strengthening the Palestinian Narrative on Wikipedia: Documenting the Attack on Gaza and the West Bank

As part of its mission to amplify the Palestinian narrative and highlight historical and national truths on digital platforms, Taawon, in partnership with the Wiki Palestine Association, organized a workshop titled "Documenting the attack on Gaza and the West Bank" as part of the "Strengthening the Palestinian Narrative on Wikipedia" project. This initiative aims to equip Palestinian youth with the skills needed to enrich Palestinian content on Wikipedia, one of the world’s most influential informational platforms.

The workshop focuses on empowering young people from diverse backgrounds, particularly university students, by providing training on writing, editing, and publishing articles. It is part of a broader series of workshops designed to promote the authentic Palestinian narrative and counter attempts to distort or erase historical truths.

This initiative underscores Taawon’s dedication to empowering Palestinian youth and strengthening the presence of the national narrative on global platforms, ensuring that the Palestinian identity remains steadfast and visible despite ongoing challenges.

Voices from the Workshop:

  • "We now feel empowered to create change by correcting misconceptions and presenting the Palestinian narrative in its true form."
  • "The training helped us stay connected to current events by documenting what happened in Gaza during the attack."
