Taawon Strengthens Civil Society Readiness and Youth Leadership in Emergency Response across the West Bank

Ramallah – In response to growing humanitarian and social challenges in the West Bank, and the increasing pressure on community organizations and Palestinian youth, Taawon is implementing a development and humanitarian project titled “Enhancing the Preparedness of NGOs and Empowering Young Leadership in Emergency Response.” The project is supported by Choose Love and will be implemented over the course of one year.

The project focuses on building a more resilient and coordinated community response system, led by young Palestinians equipped with the skills and tools to act effectively in times of crisis.

It comprises three main components:

  • Supporting two civil society organizations in the West Bank through a rapid needs assessment and tailored operational support to strengthen their institutional and community capacities.
  • Training and empowering 30 young men and women to lead emergency response efforts. The training includes four intensive camps covering leadership, humanitarian standards (SPHERE), disaster management, and the management of displacement camps, along with field initiatives and the distribution of specialized emergency kits.
  • Establishing a Youth Leadership Hub: a dedicated community space for coordination, planning, and continuous learning. The hub will also serve as a joint operations room during emergencies and a platform for youth-driven initiatives.

Through this project, Taawon reaffirms its commitment to empowering Palestinian institutions and youth, strengthening their ability to respond collectively and effectively during crises, and enhancing the resilience of communities across the West Bank.
