Amal Abuelhawa

Arch. Amal Abuelhawa is a Palestinian architect and cultural heritage specialist with extensive experience in the conservation and revitalization of historic cities. She specializes in integrating heritage conservation with sustainable community development through the design and management of urban regeneration programmes, professional capacity building, and strategic partnerships. Amal holds a Bachelor's degree in Architectural from Birzeit University, a Master's degree in Archaeology and Islamic Architecture from Al-Quds University, and a Professional Diploma in Project Management. Since joining Taawon (Welfare Association) in 2017, she has managed the Old Cities Revitalization Programme, leading integrated initiatives in architectural conservation, community engagement, and heritage documentation. She was selected by the UNESCO World Heritage Centre as a technical advisor supporting Arab States on heritage conservation, management, and World Heritage nominations. In 2024, she received an Honorary Mention in the Women in Architecture Excellence Award in recognition of her professional contributions to architecture and heritage conservation.
