Amman, 1/11/2024: Under the title "Gaza Deserves," Taawon held a dialogue session in Amman and virtually to review its programs and its current and future work plans. The dialogue included members of the General Assembly, led by Mr. Saad Abdul Hadi, and members of the Board of Trustees, headed by Dr. Nabil Hani Qaddumi, alongside a distinguished group of Taawon’s friends and supporters, including experts and those interested in development and strategic planning. Dr. Tareq Emtairah, the Director General, and the executive team of Taawon also participated in the sessions.
Dr. Nabil Qaddumi opened the session with a welcoming speech, emphasizing Taawon’s pioneering and impactful role in promoting collaboration with Palestinian society and its civil institutions. He highlighted Taawon’s commitment to developing and implementing programs and interventions grounded in strategic priorities and designed in partnership with stakeholders. These efforts ensure that Taawon’s initiatives reflect the needs of Palestinian communities and enhance their resilience across all regions, particularly in Gaza, amid the ongoing attack and its repercussions.
With the participation of Dr. Mustafa Barghouti and Mr. Hani Al-Masri, the session explored expected future scenarios and the challenges facing developmental efforts in Palestine, particularly in Gaza, amidst Israeli aggressive practices in Gaza, Jerusalem, and the West Bank. Emphasis was also placed on available opportunities and effective methods to enhance Palestinian resilience under current conditions.
Dr. Tareq Emtairah also highlighted Taawon’s role as a unifying platform that promotes collaboration and coordinates efforts to support human development and local communities while addressing emergency needs. He outlined practical steps to enhance the organization's efficiency in achieving strategic goals, activating partnerships with civil society and donors, and introducing new pathways to support its strategic plans. The importance of designing programs with flexibility and adaptability to respond effectively to changing conditions was also underscored.
The event included an overview of several distinguished programs developed by Taawon in partnership and coordination with civil society representatives and specialists. These included the "Noor" program to support orphans in Gaza, the "Isnad" program to assist university students in Gaza, and the mobile medical clinics program. Discussions also covered initiatives under development in areas such as public education, economic empowerment, and rehabilitation of the injured. Emphasis was placed on expanding partnerships with local and international entities to ensure program sustainability, alongside developing strategic messages to affirm Taawon’s vision and accomplish shared goals.
Mr. Louay Khoury presented an initiative aimed at supporting individuals in Gaza who have lost limbs due to the attack, providing them with prosthetic limbs produced through 3D printing technology. The project is being implemented as a pilot intervention, designed for continuous improvement based on lessons learned, with the goal of establishing it as a future program within Taawon’s future programs.
Regarding resource development, an integrated strategy was presented to enhance member engagement and support volunteer initiatives. Additionally, Taawon unveiled its new institutional identity, which reflects the organization’s ambitious vision. The new identity was well-received by members and participants, highlighting its crucial role in activating institutional communication policies and its importance in attracting funding and engaging with the public.
Dr. Nabil Qaddumi concluded the event with a summary of key points, emphasizing the importance of ongoing collaboration and forward-thinking, and inviting all participants and civil society to work together toward shared goals and to strengthen the resilience of Palestinians in their homeland.
