On September 26, 2024, the Dr. Azzam Sadiq Kanaan School was officially opened in the Old City of Nablus, on the land of Sabana Canaan. The school was built thanks to the generous donation from the late Dr. Azzam Kanaan and his wife, Mrs. Shadia Misbah Kanaan. The opening ceremony was attended by Mrs. Shadia Kanaan, the Governor of Nablus, the Minister of Local Government, the Mayor of Nablus, the Director General of the Ministry of Education, as well as representatives from Taawon, several organizations, and members of the Kanaan family.
The school consists of two floors and includes two laboratories, classrooms, administrative offices, a clinic, and essential facilities, providing a comprehensive educational environment aimed at enhancing girls' education. Currently, 145 female students are enrolled at the school, covering grades 5 through 10, with a maximum capacity of 170 students.
This building is a significant addition to Supporting girls' education in the Old City of Nablus. It is a distinguished educational facility designed by Engineer Sameh Kanaan and the ACES company, supervised by the Nablus Municipality with close follow-up by Haj Adli Yaish, and managed by the Jerusalem Old Cities Revitalization Program at Taawon.
