In the face of the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza, Taawon is proud to announce the continuation of its partnership with GOAL Global, building on the collaboration that began in December 2023. During the initial phase, GOAL Global supported the Gaza Emergency Project with €168,000, which contributed to the provision of over 5,000 fresh produce parcels to displaced families. As the humanitarian situation continues to deteriorate, this renewed partnership aims to expand these efforts and address the urgent healthcare needs of those most affected.
In this new phase, Taawon and GOAL will focus on establishing and operating two mobile medical clinics in Northern and Central Gaza, in partnership with the AWDA Health and Community Association. This project is supported through an agreement with GOAL valued at €200,000, with joint funding support from Taawon. Over the next six months, beginning in September 2024, these clinics will aim to provide approximately 6,000 health consultations and treatments for displaced families. Services include urgent curative care, medication for chronic illnesses, nursing and wound care, sexual and reproductive health services, laboratory testing, and referrals to hospitals when specialized care is needed.
Dr. Tareq Emtairah, Director General of Taawon, highlighted the importance of this continued partnership:
“Our renewed partnership with GOAL is vital for maintaining the delivery of essential health services to some of those impacted by the ongoing attack on Gaza. This continued collaboration strengthens our ability to work with local partners and adapt to the catastrophic situation in Gaza, which suffers from the near-total destruction of its healthcare infrastructure.”
Colin Lee, GOAL’s Director of Program Operations, also highlighted the significance of this partnership:
“In the wake of the unparalleled horror in Gaza, where nearly the entire population is internally displaced, the healthcare system remains on the absolute brink. Entering the next phase of our partnership with Taawon is crucial, allowing us to continue delivering critical aid to the most vulnerable communities under extremely challenging conditions.”
As Taawon continues to work on the ground, our commitment to providing critical support and relief to Gaza's communities remains unwavering. This partnership underscores the importance of local and international collaboration in addressing urgent humanitarian needs and bringing hope to those enduring unimaginable hardship.
