To be a humanitarian worker in a place like Gaza is to wake each morning knowing your heart will be splintered anew. When I first began this work, I was filled with hope, a quiet joy in knowing I could help, that I could be part of a change, however small.
Gaza – In a small tent in Al-Baraka displacement camp in southern Gaza, seven-year-old Doaa sits next to her five-year-old brother, Anas. The two lean closely against their grandmother, Najah, on a thin mat—seeking comfort in the only family they have left.
