By the beginning of July we had launched our seven annual awards for 2017, worth a total of US$370,000. Each award is for US$50,000, except for the Teacher Award, which is US$70,000.

As part of its annual awards program for 2017, and as part of its strategy to support and recognition the education sector in Palestine, Taawon launched the Outstanding Palestinian Teachers Award in Palestine and in refugee camps in Lebanon.
In May 2017, in Dubai, the Al-Manarah International Library in Nazareth was awarded the prestigious Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Excellence in the Culture of Thought and the Knowledge Society.
Taawon and the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) have signed an agreement to support and fund development projects in Palestine with a total of seven and a quarter million US dollars in grant funding from the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development and the Al-Aqsa Fund
In May 2017, Taawon Lebanon inaugurated the renovated CBRA Centre in Nahr El Bared camp, located in northern Lebanon. More than 350 children with special needs are provided with treatment in the centre and with follow up visits in their homes and schools.

With the participation of local, international and medical institutions and personalities, Taawon opened the installed solar energy system that started running the departments of the Patients’ Friends Hospital in Gaza.
A group of 120 Harvard University’s Political Science students “Harvard Palestine Trek” visited Ramallah and had a number of activities.
