The
Welfare Association signs agreement with Al-Nour Charitable Foundation and
AlFadl Trust to aid projects in Palestine
Amman – The Welfare Association
(WA) signed an agreement with Al-Nour Charitable Foundation and the New AlFadl
Trust to fund a group of projects in Palestine
focusing on providing adequate health care services for Palestinian children in
particular.
The agreement was signed by Dr. Nabil Hani
Qaddumi, Board Chairman of the Welfare Association, and HE Mr. Hatim Zu'bi,
Executive Trustee and Representative of
Al-Nour Charitable Foundation and the
New AlFadl Trust. According to the agreement, AlFadl Trust will offer a $2.83 million
donation, whereas Al-Nour Foundation will offer $2.72 million, for a total
grant of $5.55 million allocated to three health projects at Al-Makassed Islamic
Charitable Hospital and Augusta Victoria Hospital
in Jerusalem, and the Medical
School at An-Najah
National University
in Nablus.
This grant will allow the execution of a
project to build and equip a Bone Marrow Transplant Unit at Augusta Victoria
Hospital, making it the first health
unit of its kind in the West Bank and the Gaza
Strip. In addition, the grant will cover
a project to upgrade pediatric Sub-specialty Units at Al-Makassed Hospital,
which includes establishing a Pediatric Gastroenterology Unit and a Pediatric
Pulmonology Unit, the upgrading of the Genetics Lab and the expansion of the Pediatric Cardiac
Intensive Care Unit. The third project includes establishing a Child Institute
at An-Najah University
in Nablus. The
institute will provide early intervention for development disorders. A Joint Executive
Committee headed by HE Mr. Hatim Zu'bi and composed of members representing the
donors and the WA, shall have full powers to plan, manage, execute, and
supervise the three projects.
Commenting on the agreement, Dr. Qaddumi
said, "I am glad at the success of our efforts and cooperation with Mr.
Hatim Zu'bi, as a representative of Al-Nour Foundation and AlFadl Trust.
The resulting agreement will benefit one of the most important development
sectors in Palestine,
the health sector, in which we are diligently seeking effective interventions that
respond to the many burdens placed upon it."
HE Mr. Zu'bi expressed his contentment
with this agreement saying "Al-Nour and AlFadl are always glad to lend a
helping hand to every project or initiative that aims to bring quality health
services to children in Palestine."
He added, "We will continue our support and, through the Executive
Committee we have established, to work toward effective implementation and
tangible results."
