Amman – The Welfare Association (WA) signed an agreement with Al-Nour Charitable Foundation and the New AlFadl Trust to fund a group of projects in Palestine focusing on providing adequate health care services for Palestinian children in particular.

The agreement was signed by Dr. Nabil Hani Qaddumi, Board Chairman of the Welfare Association, and HE Mr. Hatim Zu'bi, Executive Trustee and Representative  of Al-Nour  Charitable Foundation and the New AlFadl Trust. According to the agreement, AlFadl Trust will offer a $2.83 million donation, whereas Al-Nour Foundation will offer $2.72 million, for a total grant of $5.55 million allocated to three health projects at Al-Makassed Islamic Charitable Hospital and Augusta Victoria Hospital in Jerusalem, and the Medical School at An-Najah National University in Nablus.

This grant will allow the execution of a project to build and equip a Bone Marrow Transplant Unit at Augusta Victoria Hospital, making it the first health unit of its kind in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.  In addition, the grant will cover a project to upgrade pediatric Sub-specialty Units at Al-Makassed Hospital, which includes establishing a Pediatric Gastroenterology Unit and a Pediatric Pulmonology Unit, the upgrading of the Genetics  Lab and the expansion of the Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit. The third project includes establishing a Child Institute at An-Najah University in Nablus. The institute will provide early intervention for development disorders. A Joint Executive Committee headed by HE Mr. Hatim Zu'bi and composed of members representing the donors and the WA, shall have full powers to plan, manage, execute, and supervise the three projects.

Commenting on the agreement, Dr. Qaddumi said, "I am glad at the success of our efforts and cooperation with Mr. Hatim Zu'bi, as a representative of Al-Nour Foundation and AlFadl Trust. The resulting agreement will benefit one of the most important development sectors in Palestine, the health sector, in which we are diligently seeking effective interventions that respond to the many burdens placed upon it."

HE Mr. Zu'bi expressed his contentment with this agreement saying "Al-Nour and AlFadl are always glad to lend a helping hand to every project or initiative that aims to bring quality health services to children in Palestine." He added, "We will continue our support and, through the Executive Committee we have established, to work toward effective implementation and tangible results."
